Amy Entelis, EVP of Talent, CNN Originals and Creative Development, shares the moments that stand out and the stories she's most excited about this season. Grab your favorite warm drink, because this fall promises compelling stories to match the soon-to-be crisp air. Read Amy's thoughts below. | Tony Shalhoub is joining CNN's iconic class of food and travel hosts in our new CNN Original Series, Breaking Bread. What was it like to work with Tony this season? Breaking bread is one of the most time-honored forms of human connection, and Tony Shalhoub embodies this ideal to a tee. His passion for food is only matched by his passion for people and their stories, making him a natural guide for our viewers. Tony brings with him a signature blend of empathy and kindness – and we are betting that this is exactly what our viewers are looking for right now. On Sunday, October 5, CNN will premiere two all-new CNN Original Series, Breaking Bread and New Orleans, both of which are deeply rooted in culture and community. How do they reflect the kind of stories CNN Originals aims to tell? At CNN Originals, smart and entertaining programming is our guiding principle. We love storytellers that value authenticity and stories that widen our audience's perspectives around historical and cultural events. In the case of Breaking Bread and New Orleans, both CNN Original Series speak to the importance of the human connection, revealing the common threads that connect us all. They show us how our shared humanity can be found sitting across the table from one another – or in the case of New Orleans – in the resilient families who call the Big Easy home. What has been the most rewarding part of building CNN Originals over the past 13 years? For me, the collaborative process itself is the biggest reward. And over the last thirteen years, we have been able to build a creative atmosphere to incubate timely and thought-provoking nonfiction storytelling, beginning with the CNN Film Blackfish and the CNN Original Series Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. Throughout it all, I have had the good fortune of working with the best and brightest creative team to develop and produce so many special projects for CNN. | |
